Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and an historic centre for culture and education. The beautiful city centre is dominated by the impressive castle which overlooks both the New Town, with its elegant Georgian architecture and bustling shops, and the medieval Old Town, with the famous Royal Mile leading to the Royal Holyrood Palace. Edinburgh College is a modern campus with easy access to the city centre and a short walk to the local beach. The college has well-equipped classrooms, a modern theatre and a purpose-built dining room.
Experience two afternoons in the Scottish capital a week and visit other Scottish cities twice a week at Edinburgh College.
English by the Beach
Edinburgh College is a short walk from golden sandy beaches. On sunny days, students will be able to choose to visit the beach, play beach games, and make sand castles and art.
Homestay is available at our Edinburgh College Centre; instead of being residential, you can choose to stay with a family. You have breakfast and five evening meals in the family home. Lunch and two dinners will be provided at the College with the new friends that you have met. Homestay is a great opportunity to practice your English in an everyday setting and learn more about the local people and environment.
Our summer English courses are designed to give students the opportunity to practice their English in a friendly, multicultural environment. Students are actively encouraged to practice their English with students from other nationalities, both in class and outside. We concentrate on raising their confidence and fluency, and bringing out the English they already know, but can’t yet use.
About our courses:
- Five levels from Elementary to Advanced
- All students are tested on arrival to grade their spoken and written English to place them in the class of the correct level
- 15 hours of teaching per week from qualified teachers including project work to allow them to use their English creatively and learn more about British culture and history
- A certificate on completion of their course
